£429k buys BPB a new centre-back, with Ney joining from Fluminense Football Club in a completed move today. The 21-year-old Brazilian arrives from the Brazilian National Second Division to the Brazilian National First Division, stepping into a higher tier and a club with a glittering domestic appetite.

Ney has played 50 club games for Fluminense Football Club, scoring once. His arrival gives BPB another option in the middle of defence, where André Mizushima, Rafael, Caíque Capella and Pedro Henrique have all started since 1 July 2063. Mizushima has made 10 starts there, while the other three have made four, three and three respectively. Two centre-backs start in a game, so Ney joins a contest rather than walking into a spot already marked with his name.

The new signing departs a club in the Brazilian National Second Division for one in the top flight. That makes this a significant change of stage, not merely a change of shirt. Ney is described as very happy, with excellent morale, as he begins his BPB chapter. He can be slow to settle in a new place, so the move will ask for patience as well as promise. When he does settle, BPB will have a defender whose game carries a combative edge.

They won the Brazilian Paraíba State Championship in 2063, extending a run of 15 consecutive titles that began in 2049. That streak is still alive, and the latest crown came last year. Ney’s arrival adds a fresh face to a club whose recent history has been painted in one very familiar colour: success.

There is a little extra theatre in the exchange between these clubs. Edson Luiz, now at Fluminense Football Club, spent four seasons at BPB from 2049/50 to 2052/53, playing 171 games and winning five trophies there. Marcelo Francisco also made the same switch in the other direction, joining Fluminense Football Club after a season at BPB in 2063/64. Now Ney travels the opposite way, with a new challenge and a £429k price tag attached.

For BPB, this is a measured addition with a clear role: another centre-back for a side that uses two in each game. For Ney, it is a bold step into Brazil’s top division and a fresh chance to make his name. The deal is done; the settling-in begins now.
