The Foxes’ next move: three names, no new boss

Leicester City’s search is under scrutiny after Marco Sabatelli’s departure, with three managers linked and no appointment confirmed.

Who takes the Leicester City job? Leicester have no answer yet, but the press have supplied three possibilities after Marco Sabatelli left: Tottenham Hotspur’s Stefan Bothe, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Harvey Swann and Fulham’s Adam Fryatt. None is confirmed as the next manager; the names are links, not an appointment.

The most awkward fit is Bothe, who remains in charge at Tottenham Hotspur. He was linked with Leicester on Sunday, a day after claiming Leeds United had been lucky. That remark drew a sharp response from his friend Ryan Moore, who said Bothe lacked respect. Their dispute is another reason any move would bring scrutiny, not simply a fresh start.

Swann has a more direct Leicester connection. He played for the club from 2050/51 to 2055/56, making 135 appearances and scoring 26 goals. He is now manager of Brighton and Hove Albion, where he has worked since January last year. He, too, was linked with Leicester on Sunday, but no indication of an approach or decision has been given.

Fryatt, Fulham’s manager since May last year, completes the trio. On Saturday, Fulham travelled to face Crystal Palace. His name, like the others, is linked with Leicester’s vacancy; no change of job has been confirmed.

Leicester are in the Sky Bet Championship, but the immediate issue is who will lead them next. For now, the club’s vacancy has attracted three familiar managerial names and no certainty. A shortlist is not a solution; Leicester need to make the next move count.
