Vieira’s £620k Green Machine Deal

América Mineiro have landed defensive midfielder Élcio Vieira from VIT for a £620k bombshell, adding cover in a position reshaped by departures.

The deal is done: Élcio Vieira is heading from VIT to América Mineiro for £620k, a tidy steal for a Brazilian defensive midfielder with 75 VIT games behind him.

The 32-year-old’s move is confirmed today, giving América another option in the middle after several exits from the role. Kalum Dainty left on 31 December, Rafael moved to VIT on 11 January and Diego Fernando joined Clube de Regatas do Flamengo for £1.5m on 31 January.

Vieira will have company for the place. Rodolfo Duarte, Jajá and José Rodolfo have all started there since 1 July 2063, while Dainty also made six starts in that stretch before departing. The new arrival is not walking into an empty seat; he is joining a contest already shared around the squad.

He brings experience from VIT, where he made 75 appearances and scored three goals across the 2063/64 and 2064/65 seasons. A player who looks to move the ball on rather than chase the goal, Vieira offers América a different option as they add to their defensive-midfield choices.

There is a familiar face in the other direction, too. Rafael left América for VIT in January after making 265 appearances for the Minas Gerais club, scoring 46 goals and winning five trophies there. Now Vieira makes the reverse journey, swapping VIT for the club that has just lost Rafael.

The stakes are clear for América: they have added a proven player to a position hit by departures, and done it for £620k. Vieira arrives with a big-game reputation and a calm head; the task now is to earn his place among the men already starting there.
