Luca D'Urso strikes as Italy hold Germany to a stalemate
Italy take four points from two November qualifiers and stay top of Group D on 19 points, level with Germany, with two games left.

Luca D'Urso wheeled away as the ball crossed the line against Finland, and the night in Turin tilted Italy's way. Roberto Baggio and Leonel Álvarez struck too in a 3-1 win that settled the group's chasing pack and kept the Azzurri's noses in front.
Three days later the same players went to Germany and came home with a 0-0, the defence holding firm when the game demanded it. Nineteen points from eight games, the same as the Germans, Finland on 12, Bosnia and Herzegovina on 9, Liechtenstein on 0. Two matches remain. Control, not flair, will decide this group — and Italy have shown they can keep a clean sheet when it counts.
