Who can stop Spain in this qualifying group? Nobody has yet. Two more wins this week, 2-0 in Georgia and 1-0 against Ukraine, and Spain lead Group A with 24 points from eight games, six clear of Romania.
Manuel Miranda and Juan Andújar got the goals, and there is something reassuring about a campaign built on clean sheets and patience rather than fireworks. In my day we called that a team knowing how to win. Romania are still breathing down their necks, so nothing should be taken for granted, but the road to the European Championship looks straight and wide from here.
