Eight goals, then the cold truth in Poland

England's week swung from an Andorra rout to a 2-1 defeat in Poland that leaves Group J still in their hands.

"We were cruising, and then we let it slip," one England voice said after the whistle in Poland, and nobody in the away end needed telling twice.

Matt Allen had made the Andorra night look easy, scoring four in an 8-0 win, and Jake Woolley added two. Four days later Krzysztof Dziedzic struck three times across the two games, and Poland's 2-1 win cut the lead at the top of Group J. England still sit first on 21 points from eight, Czechia on 18, Poland on 11. No panic yet — but the cushion is thinner than it looked on Thursday.
