Chelsea’s Cup tie comes with an old boy missing
Southampton visit Chelsea in the English FA Cup on 22 March, with former Blue Cristiano Messina among the injured.

“I’d rather see him out there than in the treatment room.” Chelsea’s FA Cup meeting with Southampton on 22 March has an awkward twist before a ball is kicked: Cristiano Messina, once a Blue, is injured and will miss the trip.
They beat Stoke City 3-2 on Sunday. There is another old Chelsea connection in Marcos Delfino, who played for the Blues from 2048/49 to 2052/53 before joining Southampton.
That is three straight wins, but knockout football has a way of making the old scorelines feel like yesterday’s pie wrapper.
Chelsea’s next fixture is already looming too, with Olympique Lyonnais due on 19 March in the UEFA Champions League.
