Silva Returns to Stuttgart
A loan brings Malam Silva back to VfB Stuttgart, with Southampton sending the Portuguese midfielder to Germany for £1.5m.
Then Southampton, now Stuttgart: Malam Silva has joined VfB on loan for £1.5m, in a move confirmed on 15 August. The 32-year-old returns to a club he represented from 2062/63, having made five appearances there without scoring.
For Stuttgart, now in Bundesliga 2, the deal is a familiar face arriving from England’s top flight. For Silva, it is a return rather than a fresh start — and a reminder that football’s traffic between clubs carries its own small histories. Southampton’s past includes a five-goal Champions League final against Chelsea in 2056/57; this move, by contrast, is about what comes next for a player back in Germany.
