One Goal Past Williams

Carlos Iglesias has taken Everton’s scoring mark to 110, one beyond Rhys Williams’s previous best.

109 became 110, and Everton have a new all-time top scorer. Carlos Iglesias moved past Rhys Williams to claim the club mark, turning a one-goal margin into a place at the top of the list.

The figure has a useful companion: Iglesias has scored eight goals for Everton in the 2062/63 season. His new total is not the sum of a brief burst; across his club career, which runs from 2051/52 to 2062/63, he has 137 goals in 307 games for three clubs. Everton’s 110 account for most of that haul.

A record measured in a single goal leaves little room for grand arithmetic. Williams’s 109 stood as the benchmark; Iglesias has edged it by less than one per cent. That is a narrow gap, but the ranking is not narrow at all: first has changed hands.

Everton’s new leader is 28 and Argentinian, with 22 national-team appearances and six goals. Those numbers sit alongside the club total rather than explaining it. The immediate calculation is simpler: 110 for Iglesias, 109 for Williams, and eight of Iglesias’s goals arriving this season.

For a club with a long history, such marks make tidy headlines and untidy comparisons. Different careers do not fit neatly into one column; totals do. Williams now has the former best, while Iglesias has the current one, with a margin small enough to keep the old figure visible and large enough to settle the order.

Everton’s top-scoring line has changed by one. Iglesias’s lead over Williams is now one, and his total is now 110.
