Inter concede three and still make Europe look small
Seven goals in Copenhagen completed a 21-point league phase and deepened the sense that Inter’s domestic strength is travelling.
Inter’s 7–3 victory in Copenhagen was not a performance of defensive purity. It was something more revealing about their European confidence: an evening in which the opponent scored three times and still never came close to controlling the story.
FC København found goals through Martin Justinussen, Edi Nahum and Abou Bamba. On many European nights, that would be enough to create anxiety, reduce ambition and turn the closing stages into preservation. Inter instead continued to attack until the scoreboard became a statement of scale.
The result carried them to 21 points from eight matches, second only to Chelsea in the Champions League league phase. It followed the 5–0 demolition of Manchester United that first made their continental case impossible to ignore. Across those two matches, Inter scored 12 goals. The methods differed, but the message did not: they possess enough attacking variety to punish both sterile possession and open resistance.
This matters because their season remains divided by a demanding domestic argument. Inter lead Serie A with 49 points from 20 matches, two ahead of Juventus and five clear of Napoli. Their goal difference of plus 49 is the best in the division, yet Juventus are close enough to make every league weekend consequential.
The danger of a two-front campaign is not merely fatigue. It is emotional leakage. A great European night can make the domestic routine feel smaller; a difficult league result can introduce caution into Europe. Inter have so far avoided that split. Their recent performances suggest a side becoming more expressive as the demands increase.
Copenhagen also offered a useful warning. Three conceded goals are not detail to be edited out of a seven-goal victory. Knockout opponents will be less forgiving, and Inter cannot assume that attacking force will always cover defensive looseness. But this was not a night to reduce to flaws.
Inter have completed the league phase immediately behind the defending champions and ahead of Real Madrid, Nantes and Liverpool. Their European challenge is no longer aspirational. It is live, credible and increasingly loud.
