José Francisco Landeira is now the highest-paid player at Al-Nassr, earning £1.4m a week after his free transfer from Real Madrid.

The ink dried on the contract, the cameras flashed, and José Francisco Landeira smiled. £1,400,000 a week. Every seven days, Al-Nassr will wire that into the Spaniard's account until June 2065.

It is a king's wage for a player who has done it all. Ten clubs, 686 games, 86 goals, 108 caps for Spain. Landeira left Chelsea for Real Madrid in a £67.7m deal back in 2057, spent six seasons at the Bernabéu, and then walked away on a free this summer.

His old club, Chelsea, would choke on the numbers. Their best-paid player takes home £390,000 a week—a fraction of what Landeira now earns. That £67.7m fee Chelsea banked looks like loose change next to the wage packet Al-Nassr have handed over.

Landeira gave Chelsea 161 games and 22 goals between 2048 and 2058. He was a pillar, a player who never hid. Now he is in Saudi Arabia, adding another chapter to a career that has spanned Madrid, Barcelona, Newcastle and beyond.

Al-Nassr are not new to this game. They brought in Ido Cohen for £9.5m and Gianluca Carnesecchi for £12.5m in the summer. Landeira is the headline act, though—a household name on every continent, now earning like one.
