Pedro Gomes is laughing all the way to the bank. The Portuguese goal machine, now 37, is pocketing a staggering £1,400,000 a week at Al-Ittihad Club Jeddah.

That's nearly four times what the best-paid player at his old club Chelsea earns – a cool £390,000 a week. And it's a far cry from his days at Chelsea, where he managed just 21 games and 6 goals across five seasons.

Gomes joined Juventus from Chelsea on 14 January 2050 for £67.9m. It was a move that transformed his career – 380 goals in 532 games for the Italian giants, before a £23.4m switch to Saudi Arabia on 20 June 2062.

Now, with 50 games and 31 goals for Al-Ittihad, he's still banging them in. The deal runs until 30 June 2064, and at this rate, he'll have earned a fortune.

Chelsea fans will be shaking their heads. They let a kid go for big money, and he became one of the deadliest strikers in Europe. Now he's in Saudi, earning more in a week than most people see in a lifetime.

The Blues' top earner on £390,000 a week is no small change, but compared to Gomes, it's pocket money. The Portuguese icon has come a long way from his Porto days, where he scored 12 in 80 games as a youngster.

Al-Ittihad are clearly happy to splash the cash. They've already brought in Luca D'Urso on £1.5m a week, and now Gomes is close behind. The Saudi club are building a super-team, and the wages are eye-watering.

For Gomes, it's a golden sunset. He's won 44 trophies, scored 460 club goals in 764 games, and 101 in 140 for Portugal. Now he's adding a few more zeroes to the bank balance.

Not bad for a lad who couldn't get a game at Chelsea.
