Leipzig edge clear in Germany; Cluj make Europe notice

Two narrow domestic margins, two clubs learning the value of control.

By World Soccer Continental Desk · 23 January 2063

RB Leipzig lead the Bundesliga by two points after beating Nürnberg 2–1, Hamza De Groote scoring after 13 minutes and Patxi Ríos adding the second in the 66th. Düsseldorf remain close on 35 points, with Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach both on 34.

Elsewhere, CFR Cluj followed a goalless domestic draw with Dinamo Bucureşti by defeating Rangers 2–0 in the Champions League. Andrei Dobre broke the deadlock in the 79th minute and Éverton added the second eight minutes later.

Neither result invites extravagance, but both carry weight. Leipzig have created a small advantage in Germany’s tightest leading group. Cluj, already dominant in Liga I with a ten-point lead, have shown that their authority can survive a European night requiring patience rather than spectacle.
