Frosinone Sit Sixth While Their Standing Says Twentieth

Thirteen games into Serie A, the table and the reputation disagree by fourteen places — and the table is winning.

Twenty points from thirteen games would put most clubs sixth and nobody would blink. Frosinone are sixth, on 20 points, and their standing says 20th: a fourteen-place gap between what they are and what they were supposed to be. The form reads DWDDL, which is not the shape of a collapse so much as a side refusing to lose politely.

This is not a hot streak with a hole in it. The Roma hat-trick and the 4-4 with Napoli happened in the same autumn as the £2.4m arrival of Paul Jaklitsch from Fortuna Sittard, and Matteo Colli, in charge since June 2062, has them unbeaten in five. The partnership of Scarcella and Roberto is the other question worth asking. Sixth is not a trophy. It is, for now, the best number in the notebook.
