Everton's Hold on the Derby

Manchester United, legs heavy and goalkeeper lost, meet an Everton side that has won the last three between them, with both in the top four.

Derbies rarely need a table to sharpen them, though this one has it: two sides in the top four, and a history of late that has tilted one way. Everton have won the last three meetings, most recently 3-2 on 3 November, when Evandro Ferreira scored twice and Alberto Robles ran the night.

United, in their familiar 4-4-2, are without Renzo López and likely to field tired men — Jamie Jones, Fabián Silva and Myles Broe among them — while Everton's 4-3-3 loses Manuel Ondo to a twisted ankle and may bring in Bogdan Vodita, short of sharpness. Jack Scanlon, once of United, returns. Watch José Miguel against Santiago Pérez, and Jamie Jones in the air against Antonio Lloret, who has the edge there. Everton need only hold what they have; United need the win.
