Destiny wore yellow and blue on Sunday. Lanerossi Vicenza led this derby, dreamed of it, and then lost it 1-2 to Hellas Verona, beaten at the death by Michele Bazzano's goal on 85 minutes. The home crowd had already tasted glory when Matteo Monaco Di Monaco struck on 26 minutes, and the evening turned cruel.
Rafael Llabrés levelled on 50 minutes, and Verona pressed with patience, Bazzano the finest of them, named the match's outstanding figure. There was a betrayal in it too: Alessio Di Addario, once of Hellas, went off hurt after eight minutes. Verona have now won three of the last four of these meetings. For Vicenza, only the ache.
