Records tend to arrive quietly, and this one came as a single goal — the kind of margin that decides championships. David Castillo's 112th for Club Atlético Talleres de Remedios de Escalada takes him past Leonardo Fernández's 111, a landmark that has waited for a challenger through years of respectable, unremarkable arithmetic.
Since joining from Club y Biblioteca Ramón Santamarina in January 2056 for £1.8m, Castillo has scored 112 in 268 games for the club, four of them this season. "I only ever counted the next one," he said. The tally now stands alone at the top — and the next one only extends it.
