Lugano Make Ruan Their £8.6m Showstopper
The Brazilian moves from Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai Football Club to FC Lugano in a deal completed on 16 August.

£8.6m is the headline fee as FC Lugano bring Ruan in from Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai Football Club, with the transfer completed on 16 August. The Swiss Super League club have landed their new arrival in a deal with instant glamour—and a hefty price tag to match.
Ruan, 32, is Brazilian and has played for two clubs across a career running from 2046/47 to 2063/64. He brings 842 club games to Lugano, a substantial body of experience as he prepares for his latest change of colours.
The move follows Léon van den Bosch’s departure from Lugano to FC Basel 1893 for £5.2m on 14 August. Now Ruan arrives for £8.6m, turning the transfer spotlight straight back on the Swiss side. Lugano’s spending on one player is also listed at £8.6m on 18 August: one signing, one sizeable statement.
Shabab Al-Ahli lose a familiar national name; Lugano welcome one of their own. Ruan’s next chapter begins in Switzerland, where the new signing can expect all eyes on him as he steps into the shirt.
