108 goals for Reading. Ariel Sosa has moved one clear of Antônio Minatel to become the club’s all-time top scorer, turning a long-running tally into a new landmark on 12 August 2063.

The 2062/63 season supplied 19 of those goals. That is enough to carry Sosa beyond Minatel’s 107, and the one-goal margin makes the change of holder satisfyingly exact: no runaway, just one more than the number that had stood before.

Sosa has played for Reading from 2046/47 to 2062/63, making 533 club appearances and scoring 183 goals across three clubs. The new mark concerns his Reading total, not that broader career figure; the distinction matters when a milestone arrives with the numbers so close together.

There was a glimpse of his value to Reading in January, when his 70th-minute goal beat second-placed Everton. That came after Reading had forced Chelsea into a late comeback, a sharp three-day stretch in which Sosa’s contribution was part of a wider push against the top two. Now the lasting arithmetic is his own.

Minatel’s 107 has been surpassed, but only by the narrowest possible margin. For Reading, Sosa’s name now sits first in a category built one goal at a time. “One more than the old mark,” the numbers might say. They do not usually bother with ceremony.
