Milan chase Bayern's Biegański
AC Milan have set their sights on Szymon Biegański, but the Pole is in no hurry to leave Munich.
What would it take to pry Szymon Biegański from Bayern? AC Milan are about to find out.
The Italian giants want the Polish international, and the rumour mill has been working overtime since the news broke. Biegański has been a quiet, steady presence since arriving from Chelsea for £52.5m in 2062 – 54 games, four goals, and the kind of unflappable reliability that makes managers sleep easier. He is close to Dan Gifford and Calin Dimario, the men who have shaped his game, and he is happy where he is. That is the problem for Milan.
Bayern's recent form has been mixed – a 3-0 win over Hamburg, but a 4-1 hammering in Cologne and a shock 1-0 home defeat to Nürnberg. Yet Biegański remains a big-game player, the sort who thrives when the pressure is highest. His £140,000-a-week wages are not small, but Milan have never been shy about spending for the right man.
Still, the player himself is content. He has never been one to force a move, and he has shown before that he takes time to settle in a new place. Eight clubs in eleven seasons tell their own story. If Milan want him, they will have to convince Bayern first – and then convince the man himself.
For now, Bayern hold the cards. And in Munich, they know how to play them.
