The match saw an intriguing clash of styles as Stefan Herzog's control possession approach failed to get the better of an A. Madrid team favouring a wing play system.

Towering centre-back Farid got A. Madrid off to a flyer by scoring a good header from just inside the six-yard box on 9 minutes. Legendary attacking midfielder Mario Cardozo doubled A. Madrid's lead with a fine header from point-blank range on 47 minutes.

Defensive midfielder Milan Stojinović completed the rout with a low drive from 25 metres out on 80 minutes.

Sevilla have won three of their last five home league games.
