Levante have beaten Ponferrada before — can they do it again?
Three straight defeats to Los Bercianos, and now Levante must face them with a defence held together by hope.
Two seasons ago Levante beat Ponferrada. Since then they have lost three in a row to them, including a 2-4 at home in May, and now they meet again on 2 December with three defenders missing: Lubos Horvath, Lukas Schranz and Jonatan Risso. That is not a selection problem, it is a crisis at the back.
Ponferrada arrive in the middle of their Champions League campaign, with Shamrock Rovers to come and two more league games in the following week. Their fixture list is crowded; Levante's is not. The visitors will be tired, but they will also be sharp, and Levante know exactly what happened the last time they hosted them. Lose again and the pattern becomes a habit.
