18 Points: Lazio's Derby Test Against Fiorentina
Lazio, top with 18 points from seven games, face a Fiorentina side three points back in a derby that could shape the early title race.
Lazio have 18 points from seven games and sit top of Serie A. Fiorentina, third, have 15 from six. Tomorrow's derby at the Olimpico is not just about local pride; it is about whether Lazio's lead holds or Fiorentina close the gap.
Lazio are without Andrea Giacomini, Davide Citterio and Lorenzo Pecorella. Fiorentina miss Jeremiah Chukwu, Saikou Manneh and Ilies Revol. Lazio's Amine El Amrani has been in superb form, averaging 7.94 in his last five, while Fiorentina's Christos Gerardis averages 7.95 in his last four. The duel between Girón and Riccio will be fascinating: Girón's pace and acceleration against Riccio's tackling. Lazio won the last meeting 3-0 in May, but Fiorentina won 1-0 in January. Fabio Bandera, now at Fiorentina, spent seven seasons at Lazio. He will want to prove a point.
