A league table can expose the gap between a club’s promise and its present work with brutal clarity. For Udinese, the early verdict is stark: 20th in the Italian Serie A, where their standing suggests fifth.
Three matches have brought three defeats and no points. Cristiano Ronaldo Martins da Silva, in charge since 10 July, has little time to let the opening run become a season’s defining pattern. Udinese need control first: a cleaner defensive platform, and the discipline to turn the next difficult spell into something they can manage.
