Ponferrada's Arcos Turns Heads
Sergio Arcos, 17, is maturing quickly at Ponferrada and our scouts believe his passing, determination, acceleration and finishing mark him out as one to watch.

What makes a teenager from a modest La Liga side worth a second look? In the case of Sergio Arcos, the answer is simple: the way he plays.
Our scouts have followed Arcos closely since he came through Ponferrada's youth intake in April 2062. The 17-year-old has not yet made a first-team appearance this season, but his game is maturing quickly. In training and for the youth teams, he shows passing range beyond his years, the kind of determination that keeps him scrapping for every ball, and acceleration that can leave defenders flat-footed. Add finishing instincts and you have the profile of a player who could trouble top-flight back lines sooner rather than later.
Ponferrada know what they have. Los Bercianos have a history of nurturing local talent, and Arcos fits that mould. He is already training with the first team, and the club's coaches speak of a boy who listens, learns and never hides. There is no rush, but the buzz around him is growing. Last month, Next Gen highlighted his progress, and now Al-Ittihad Club Jeddah are reportedly interested in another Ponferrada player, Gino van Velzen. The Saudi club's scouts may well have noticed Arcos too.
For now, Arcos remains little known outside the Bierzo region. But if he keeps developing at this rate, that will change. The question is not whether he will get his chance, but when. And when it comes, he looks ready to take it.
